Accident Blackspots

The Parish Council is aware of residents' concerns in relation to the increasing amount and speed of traffic on the Walden and London Roads.  Whilst the speed limit on London Road should soon be reduced to take in the new Audley Green development and a de-urbanisation project is in the planning stages there are no current plans from Essex Highways to reduce the speed limit on the Walden Road.

The Parish Council is intending to apply to Essex Highways to request a reduction in the speed limit on the Walden Road from 50mph to the 40mph effectively extending the 40mph speed limit already in place at the Little Chesterford roundabout up to the Stump Cross roundabout.

In addition the PC is intending to apply to Essex Highways to request yellow lines at the top of the High Street where it meets the Walden Road up to the Plough.  Unfortunately vehicles are often parked at the top of the High Street causing an immediate and dangerous obstruction to incoming cars, and also to the hourly buses turning into the Village.  Additionally, when there are parked cars on both sides of the road buses have difficulty getting through the High Street.

For Essex Highways to consider these applications the PC needs to demonstrate support from residents.
